They are about her own upbringing in a baker's family in Söderhamn and the upbringing of a playmate in a fishing family. During the 1980s and 1990s, she toured Sweden with her books going to classrooms and libraries, She wanted to encourage children to interview their older relatives, and many children made their own little books that they sent to her. In 1994, she had a solo exhibition in Söderhamn, the theme was "Preserve culture", a motto she had found spray-painted on a demolition site where one of the city's old wooden houses had been demolished. In April 2020, Barbro Sedwall was "author of the month", appointed by the literary activities within Kultur Gävleborg, HelGe libraries and P4 Gävleborg, Sveriges Radio. At that time, she and her books were highlighted both in libraries, online and on the radio.
