Morris incorporates an element of the supernatural into his reimagining of the Middle English romance Lay of Havelok the Dane. The work was included in the Newcastle Forgotten Fantasy Library anthology in 1977. Morris said of this edition 'When you come to look at it, and see that you get a book like this... for seven and sixpence a volume[!], it would be impossible to refuse buying them. I love my books, and I love making them, and I think of these... quite the most charming things issued from my press' (Ideal Book). Very good, ownership inscription in volume one. Peterson A35.
