Description:
Translated by Ian Higgins. Handset and printed by Michael Caine at the atelier de la Cerisaie in Paris. A limited edition of only 20 numbered copies (with ten hors commerce), signed by the illustrator, this is number 1. The format is 370mm by 260mm unbound, housed in a specially made solander box. The nine original ink drawings were done in the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh and are reproduced in this edition in photo-intaglio on Rives mouldmade paper. The accompanying text in English and French is from Ponge's Faune et Flore, a prose poem published in 1946. The drawings are not exactly illustrations but correspond to the spirit of the text and have an easily recognisable anthropomorphic quality. Fine.
