First edition, first impression; 8vo; original boards and dust-jacket. Inscribed by the author on th front free endpaper to the Shiffolds "with love from Morgan". The identity of the recipients is unknown however given the warmth of the inscription, they were presumably well known to Forster. This first edition, first issue contains "a Flood in the Office" in Part IV (which was expurgated from later editions) and also includes a Great War poem critical of Churchill and the war in general. A near fine copy with the slightl dampstaining to the lower margins of the front endpapersand bookplate of Birkbeck College to front pastedown. Fine dust jacket.
