Images of War.
ALDINGTON, Richard: Illustrated by Paul Nash
London Beaumont Press. 1919..
Limited edition; 8vo; original cover in black on red paper designed by Paul Nash. Edition of 200 on hand made paper. Eleven block illustrations in black and white from drawings by Nash. The seventh book published by the Beaumont Press. Clare Colvin in 'Paul Nashs Book Designs' states that 'the designs for Images of War are stronger and more intense than those for Loyalties ( the first book illustrated by Nash). This is partly because the poems are more powerful, but also because Nash explores the use of the abstract. The designs are similar to the work of Nash's contemporaies, the Vorticists. They contain the same vital energy.' Fine, very slight wear to the extremities and label to spine a little darkened.
