In the Royal Naval Air Service: Being the War Letters of Harold Rosher To His Family.
ROSHER, Harold

Category:

Place/Publisher/Date:
London Chatto & Windus.

Description:
With an introduction by Arnold Bennett. First edition, 3rd impression, original boards. With 22 black and white photographs. Rosher flew with the Royal Naval Air Service from August 1914 until his death in February 1916. He was primarily based in the UK or in France supporting the British Army along the Belgian coast. Bennett states in his introduction that these letters "are spontaneous and utterly unstudied documents, and they have been printed almost exactly as Rosher wrote them. Many of them are quite ordinary; most are spiced with slang; the long ones describing his share in the great historic raids are thrillingly dramatic." Three days after the date of the last letter, at the age of twenty two, Rosher was killed when a newly repaired machine he was testing crashed. Very good, cloth, a little rubbed and faded. Price £27.50
