Hand coloured frontispiece etching and 20 hand-colored photogravure plates, all with captioned tissue guards. The twenty monochromes Hyde made for this work "send endless brilliant cloud-forms ......Some are driven by the wind towards abstraction. In such images Hyde opens a path for pastoral vision to engage perspectives of destruction and ruin in the Great War barely fifteen years in the future". (Jerrold Northrop Moore - The Green Fuse). This copy is presumed to have been hand-coloured by Hyde - the colours used match those of the few watercolours he is known to have produced. A fine copy, spine a little faded.
