One of the Connolly 100 Key Books of The Modern Movement. Connolly states that "Lawrence strikes out here with the mother-theme after the more rhapsodical first book The White Peacock (1911)...Lawrence is a genius whose best work has somehow to be disentangled from the propaganda department of his world reform dictatorship." Fine, some slight offsetting to the end papers. A nice copy rarely found in this condition. Roberts A4.
