Initialled presentation copy from Edith Olivier to her niece Rosemary, 'For her birthday - & in memory of an afternoon with SS.'Edith Olivier was a novelist, her first novel, The Love-Child being written when she was 55. She was also a confidante and hostess in the aesthetic, upper-class homosexual circles centred on country house life in Wiltshire, which included Sassoon, Osbert Sitwell, and Cecil Beaton. Very good with pencil notes to front pastedown, cloth slightly rubbed and marked and browning to the endpapers.
