Description: Autograph letter signed "S. Palmer", 8vo, 3 pages, laid down on an album leaf. Annotated in pencil by Raymond Lister. Lister was a Palmer scholar and the editor of a number of books on the artist including the Complete Catalogue Raissone. The letter concerns a picture in an exhibition "...will you kindly correct a mistake in the verse appended to my No 1 A day dream &c... I want to be on the spot at or before the hour when the drawings are taken down, and if the hour is not yet fixed a near guess will be acceptable...". This letter has been identified by Lister as discussing Palmer's watercolour The Good Farmer, exhibited that year at the Royal Watercolour Society, and illustrated in A.H. Palmer's memoir of his father. It is now in the National Gallery of Art, New Zealand. Another version (L.644) is in the Victoria and Albert Museum: see Raymond Lister, Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Samuel Palmer, 1988, L.645.
