The farmer he has no compassion for but he bleeds when you talk irreverently about rents and game... The drama of the situation appeals so much to him that for the moment he was prepared for human sacrifice'. Lloyd George and Churchill had been on friendly terms even before they sat together in the House of Commons: they enjoyed 'an entente of affinity and to some extent of interest' (Roy Jenkins.
