Description: First edition; 8vo; original blue cloth gilt, later slipcase. Half title, 20-pages of publisher's advertisements at the end. Presentation copy, "Xmas 1914, S. Kotilianski [sic] (Il Morte) from D. H. Lawrence (Il Vivo)." S. S. Kotelianski met Lawrence in 1914. 'Kot' (as he was known) translated many Russian writers, sometimes in collaboration with Lawrence, and was one of Lawrence's inner circle of friends who were to be residents of 'Rananim', the Utopian community which Lawrence hoped to establish after the First World War. Fine, head and foot of spine slightly bumped and slightly worn and top of text block a little dusty. Roberts A6.
