Description: Limited edition; folio; original morocco-backed cloth and solander box. This is number 3 of 40 copies signed by the author/artist. One of the de luxe copies with a leather onlay of a celtic motif mounted on upper cover and Tiziano endpapers paste-painted by Jones. Chwedlau is an exploration into 15 centuries of Welsh myths, legends & folklore, & their place in the history of Wales. Each of the seven essays is prefigured with a blind-printed etching, or, in one case, with a small mezzotint, & faces a full page mezzotint or aquatint. The essays were set at Gwasg Gregynog in 14-point Baskerville typeface, & printed letterpress by Jones, on Somerset velvet mouldmade. Enclosed are an original prospectus and a signed manuscript letter from the artist to Eugenie and James Beall. Fine.
