Hardy referrs dismissively to Satires of Circumstance, 'I raked together all the verse I could find to fill up my late volume - a heterogeneous lot! & I fear I must pass over in silence the transit into next year, the times being too uncertain to inspire the right message', concluding with a reference to the ongoing war, I hope that we shall see light ahead before long', and thanks for some favourable reviews. One page, 8vo, bifolium. The book is a near fine copy with very slight fading to the spine and browning to end papers. The letter has some light marks and traces of old paste to the verso of the integral blank.
