Description: The archive is housed in William Hannan's despatch box. It consists of 1. A signed photograph of Britain's greatest 20th century Prime Minister Clement Attlee. 2. Five photographs of Attlee and his cabinet. 3. Signed typed written letter from Attlee dated 12th May 1951 to Hannan on 10 Downing Street headed paper offering him the CBE. 4. Signed typed from Attlee to Hannan acknowledging his refusal of the award. 5. Presentation programme for the ceremony in honour of Winston Churchill on the occasion of his 80th birthday. 6. Typed signed letter from Harold Wilson on 10 Downing Street headed paper dated 27th October 1966 declining an invitation to a Dinner and Dance to celebrate William Hannan's 21 years as an M.P. 7. A manuscript signed letter from Harold Wilson to Hannan on 10 Downing Street headed paper, addressed to Dear Willie, expressing concern at the news that he was hospital and urging him to take time to recuperate. 8. A typed signed letter from Harold Wilson on House of Commons note paper expressing condolences to Hannan on the death of his wife. 9. Typed signed letter from Harold Wilson on 10 Downing Street headed paper dated 25th April 1974, wishing Hannan well on his retirement from the House of Commons. 10. Two photographs of Hannan campaigning. 11. Photograph of a British delegation in Cyprus with Archbishop Makarios. William Hannan (30 August 1906 - 6 March 1987) was Labour Member of Parliament for Glasgow Maryhill from 1945 until his retirement at the February 1974 general election. He was a Lord of the Treasury from 1946 to 1951.
