Description: First edition; small 8vo; original red cloth. One of only two works published in his lifetime, this work was inspired by Gurney's beloved Gloucestershire and his experiences on the Western Front in 1916, before he was gassed at Passchendale in August 1917. Fine, only faults being slight fading to spine and very slight spotting to the edge of the text block. A nice copy.
