Place/Publisher/Date:
London, John Murray. 1920.
Description: First edition; 8vo; original cloth boards. Black and white frontispiece and seven plates, diagrams, 10 maps, including a folding map. Ownership inscription of Brigadier-General Hardress Lloyd on the front free endpaper. The 3rd Tank Brigade was formed under his command on 27 April 1917 and Hardress Lloyd remained in charge of this brigade until the war ended. He was promoted to Brigadier-General on 16 April 1918 and a Bar was added to his DSO in July. He was also mentioned in despatches six times and appointed a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur. Fuller served as the Chief General Staff Officer of the Tank Corps from December 1916 to August 1918 and was one of the founders of tank warfare. This is a scarce book difficult to find in acceptable condition. This copy is very good with sunning to the spine, wear to the extremities and a few marks to the front board. Cloth split to lower joint, but hinges sound. The end papers are browned. A nice association copy.
