Description: Introduction by Paul Nash. Limited edition; 4to; original patterned cloth boards with design by Paul Nash. Number 191 of 220 copies (145 for sale in England and 75 for the United States). The book is in two sections with designs reproduced by offset printing, with the original pattern being a line drawing or a wood engraving. The draughtsmen are Lovat Fraser, Albert Rutherston, Margaret James, Thomas Lowinsky, E.O. Hoppe, Edward Bawden, Paul Nash. The wood engravers are Paul Nash, Enid Marx, Eric Ravilious and Harry Carter. The volume contains 31 plates. Each of the specimens is printed on a full sheet and folded in quarto. In this copy the title page and the headpiece to the introduction have been hand coloured. A fine copy with none of the papers removed as is usually the case. Very slight rubbing to the extremities and the small library stamp of American illustrator Edward A Wilson to the front free end paper.
