Description: Limited signed edition. 4to; original green cloth, in glassine jacket. Edition of 300, this is number 123. Signed by the author and Ronald Blythe, who wrote the introduction. A Month in the Country is undoubtedly Carr's masterpiece. A very simple story totally lacking in pretence of two Great War soldiers seeking renewal in rural Yorkshire. One through archaeology the other, Birkin the narrator, through the uncovering of a hidden fresco in the parish church and through love. The book is difficult to find in the first edition and even more difficult to find in an unfaded dust jacket. This limited edition however is a beautiful book, printed on handmade paper, with a black and red title page. Fine in fine dust jacket.
