Description: Introduction by Herbert Morrison. New edition; 4to; original illustrated boards. Inscribed by Herbert Morrison on the front free end paper "to Helen Hannan with love from Herbert Morrison 17/7/52." The Dolly Ballads were first published in 1905 by The Clarion newspaper in 1905. The purpose of The Clarion according to Blatchford its editor was to make Socialists, which it did in great numbers. However in his introduction Morrison states that the Dolly Ballads is not a volume of Socialist propaganda. Good only with loss to top 80mm of top and bottom of the spine, corners worn and bumped and foxing to the end papers,
