Description: Autograph letter on a postcard signed. One page, oblong 8vo (100 x 142mm.), on a printed lettercard, autograph address panel on verso, postmarked, Tashkent, 27 September. Akhmatova to Valeriya Sergeyevna Poznanska, apologising for her long silence, explaining that the heat has prevented her from leaving Tashkent, that she is suffering from a cold and is taking care of herself by relaxing in the fine autumn weather, and informing her that Faina Georgiyevna is leaving for Moscow that day. Akhmatova was ordered to leave Leningrad in the Autumn of 1941 and travelled to Tashkent in the Spring of 1942. During her time their she became very ill with typhus. After being treated in hospital she spent some time convalescing at Dyurmen outside the town, where she began to write fragments of an autobiography. Good, some creasing.
