Description: First edition; 8vo; original cloth boards. Edition of only 500 copies. A history of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, the regiment both Sassoon and Graves served with, and published in part to contest the author's preceived "fictions" they had created in the works Memoirs of an Infantry Officer and Goodbye to All That. Dunn was the inspiration for the character Dr Munro in Sassoon's Sherston's Progress. John Keegan stated that this 'is one of the most interesting and revealing books of its type and is a genuinely truthful and fascinating picture of the war as it was for the infantry'. Fine cloth a little marked and some wear to the extremities. Spine a little faded and some light spotting to the edge of the text block.
